SOMEONE YOU LOVE HAS CANCER – WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Unfortunately most of us have had someone we are close to diagnosed with cancer. As so often is the case in these situations we feel helpless, though we desperately want to help. Many of you have bought Psi Bands for a loved one who is going through chemo. This makes sense — it shows that you care and gives that person something that really can help them to feel better. We came across an excellent article in USA Today recently that addresses things you can say or do when someone you know is battling cancer. There are some really good points in the article and it is worth the read. A glimpse at some of the tips offered:
- Be empathetic, but don’t be bossy about things they should try or do for treatment.
- Even if the person can’t be as actively involved in your life, don’t forget them on important occasions like birthdays.
- Don’t dwell on cancer talk all the time.
- Offer specific help (i.e. can I come clean your house?).

NAUSEA, NOT! IT SAYS A LOT
From the very start, the Psi Bands mission has been to find ways to make a positive difference in people’s lives. That is why we are thrilled that Psi Bands is a part of the “Nausea, NOT” Carebox. Carebox was created as a thoughtful way to let friends and family know you care. Maybe someone you know is going through a difficult time, or maybe you just want to let them know you’re thinking of them. Either way, these creative and thoughtful care packages — from the “Nausea, NOT” to the “Lemons to Lemonade” to the “Hugs and Kisses” boxes will brighten their day, and maybe even help make things a little better. Carebox came about as a result of the founder losing both of her parents to cancer. She wanted to find a way to help people reach out when they didn’t really know what to say, much less do. She also made it her mission to work towards a world that’s free from cancer. That’s why a portion of the profits from each box goes towards organizations fighting cancer through research, education, and early detection.
Connect with Psi Bands on Facebook and watch for a chance to win the “Nausea, NOT” box (a $95 value) toward the end of the month.

OUR MISSION – TO GIVE RELIEF WHILE GIVING BACK
Since its inception, Psi Bands has sought to fulfill its mission of giving back. As such, Psi Bands has formed a charitable partnership with Fertile Hope, a LIVESTRONG initiative dedicated to providing reproductive information, support and hope to cancer patients and survivors whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility. Psi Bands donates $1 of every Cherry Blossom Psi Bands set sold to Fertile Hope. Psi Bands and Fertile Hope are working together toward a common goal – improving the lives of both cancer patients undergoing treatment as well as those whose parenting dreams are coming true. RESEARCH SHOWS: ACUPRESSURE WRIST BANDS EASE NAUSEA IN CANCER TREATMENT
Cancer patients who wore acupressure wristbands had much less nausea while receiving radiation treatment, making the bands a safe, low-cost addition to anti-nausea medication, according to a study in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management by University of Rochester Medical Center researchers. Previous research has suggested that the placebo effect might be why elastic wristbands reduce nausea. However, the findings of the latest study do not support that notion, even though researchers continue to believe in the mind’s powerful influence over symptoms. In fact, even when controlling for a placebo, there was a marked decrease in nausea felt by patients wearing acupressure wrist bands.
