FAMILY TARVEL TIPS

from TravelingMom.com

With gas prices spiking and the summer road trip season approaching, now’s a good time to remember how to save on gas costs for a family vacation.

woman pumping gas

1. Slow down

Each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph can reduce your fuel economy by about 8 percent.

2. Relax

Summer is road construction season, so just take a chill pill. Alternating between the accelerator pedal and brake pedal leads to even more wasted gas.

3. Check those tires

Under-inflated tires mean increased rolling resistance, which means reduced fuel economy–as much as 0.3 percent less for each one pound of under-inflation. Check your owner’s manual for the right tire pressure.

4. Don’t waste miles

Before you leave the interstate for the food or fuel advertised on the billboard, consider the “see” rule: If you can’t see the establishment or its sign from the interstate, keep on going unless you’re desperate for food, drink or gas.

CANCER & WELLNESS CORNER

Breast Self-Exams

Have you done your monthly breast self-exam?  Please do.  As a breast cancer survivor there is one thing I would urge you to do…  know your breasts!

I think if I had known mine better, I would have discovered my tumor much earlier and maybe could have prevented such a harsh treatment plan and such a long road to recovery.

The more you examine your breasts, the easier it will be to notice if something unusual is happening.  It can be a way to find breast cancer early when it’s more likely to be treated successfully.  Keep in mind, not every cancer can be found this way, but it is a critical step you can and should take for yourself.

Here are some helpful tips:

1) Try to get in the habit of doing a breast self-examination once a month.  Choose a day that’s easy to remember such as the first or last day of the month.

2) Don’t panic if you think you feel a lump. Most women have lumps or lumpy areas in their breasts.  In the US, only 20-percent of women who have a suspicious lump biopsied turn out to have breast cancer.

3) You might also want to start a journal where you record the findings of your breast self-exams.  This could help you remember from month to month what is normal for your breasts.

If you aren’t performing a breast self-exam because you’re not exactly sure how to do it, go to breastcancer.org and check out “The Five Steps of a Breast Self-Exam.”

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation offers this important note:  Women with a family history of breast cancer should talk with their doctor.  Screening tests may need to be done more often and/or started earlier than usual.

May Days…

My first stop will be to give a presentation at Next Space in Culver City on Wednesday, May 30 from 7pm – 9pm. Hosted by SMARTY: A Network for Women in Business, our topic will be: “Tales from Both Sides of the Retail Table: Insights on Winning Product Placement on Store Shelves.” I will be joined by Vanessa Ting, former buyer for Target and founder of Retail Path Consulting. We will address the process which every entrepreneur of a product-based company needs to know to get their product on major retailers’ shelves.

SMARTY was founded by Amy Swift-Crosby, a small business expert, who saw the need for an “…engaging and authentic space to connect, partner and grow.”

To learn more or register for this event, please visit Eventbrite.

The following day, on May 31, I will be a guest panelist at Tory Johnson’s Spark & Hustle. I

attended this jam-packed event last year and found my experience to be invaluable. If you

are ready to take your business to the next level, then this event is for you. Whether you are just starting out, or are an experienced entrepreneur, there is something for everyone to learn.

Tory is a dynamic, energetic, and inspirational moderator. She will share her own expertise and introduce the attendees to my fellow all-star panelists, a successful group of entrepreneurs who will share their tips for running a thriving business.

Please join me in Los Angeles at the Four Points Sheraton – LAX for this important one-day event.

Both of these exciting events are about the connections we, women, can make in order to learn from each other and grow our business. With the exchange of ideas comes inspiration and success and I look forward to seeing you there!

FAMILY TRAVEL TIPS

Take stress out of family travel with these tips.

1. Don’t rely on your memory. Use the camera in your cell phone to take a picture of your parking spot number at the airport so you don’t lose your car.

2. Have a backup. Scan copies of your travel documents–passports, itineraries, hotel and car rental confirmation numbers–and email them to yourself. That way, everything you need is as close as the nearest Internet connection or your smartphone.

3. Bring plastic–the Ziploc kind. Put everything that could leak into a plastic bag and bring extra bags in larger sizes. They’ll come in handy for that bottle of duty-free tequila from Mexico or wet bathing suits from kids who needed one last dip in the ocean before piling into the car for the long ride home.

4. Rent a condo. Vacation condos with a kitchen and separate bedrooms are a great option for families. Even if the nightly rate is a little more than a hotel (and that isn’t always the case), you can offset the expense by eating several meals in. Save a lot of stress – and cash – with breakfast cereal ‘at home.’ And the separate bedroom for parents is a whole different kind of stress reliever.

Managing Your Emotions After Treatment

“You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.” I don’t know who came up with those profound words, but whoever it was might have been a cancer survivor. You’ve got to be strong when you’re battling a disease, but I think you have to be even stronger when the battle is over, and the processing begins. That’s when it hit me… after treatment, when things quieted down and I began to absorb the 15-months of surgery, chemo and radiation that took a toll on me physically, mentally, and emotionally. Once treatment ended, I often felt scared and alone as most of my family and friends were eager to return to normal life and I was suddenly leaving the protective cocoon of doctors and nurses who supported me during treatment. Cancer experts at the Mayo Clinic say these feelings are completely normal.
The road to recovery isn’t just about your body, it’s about healing your mind as well. So take time to acknowledge the fear, grief and loneliness and then take steps to understand why you feel these emotions and what you can do about them. My doctors tell me to eat well and exercise. I’m going to all of my follow-up appointments, and trying to stay open about my fears… even when my friends say, “Marilyn, it’s all behind you now.” I know they mean well, but I can’t just flip a switch and put it behind me. Cancer changed the course of my life, and I’m giving myself permission to heal in my own way… in my own time. What helps most is staying in the moment and focusing on the blessings: Deeper gratitude for my community, knowing I’m strong and courageous, more authentic relationships and seeing my children more confident as they learn that together as a family, we can handle anything that comes our way. That’s worth it all.
If you or a loved one is trying to manage the emotions of life after treatment, check out the Mayo Clinic at: www.mayoclinic.com. Check out the Cancer Corner next month for more information as you continue on your healing journey.

PREGNANCY CORNER

Morning Sickness Q & A

What, exactly, causes morning sickness? And what is the best way to treat it? Here is what the experts at The Bump have to say:

morningsick

What is morning sickness?

Before your pregnancy, you probably imagined that when you woke up in the morning, you’d be nauseous, throw up and then go on with your day. Well…not so much. Whoever decided to call it “morning sickness” was probably sleeping through the day, because this nausea doesn’t discriminate between the morning, afternoon or evening.

What are the signs of morning sickness?

Nausea and vomiting — of course — early in pregnancy.

Are there any tests for morning sickness?

If you’re losing significant weight or can’t keep anything down, those may be signs of a more serious problem, so talk to your doctor.

How common is morning sickness?

Common! Experts think anywhere from 50 to 90 percent of pregnant women get morning sickness.

How did I get morning sickness?

There’s no clear answer as to why nausea occurs during pregnancy, although it’s believed that it’s due to hormonal changes (that seems to be the answer to everything these days). Generally, the nausea isn’t too overwhelming, and by midpregnancy, you should be mostly relieved of it. But if your nausea and vomiting are excessive, talk to your doctor, because it may be hyperemesis gravidarum, a rare severe form of morning sickness that results in a poor intake of fluids and food (and a hungry baby).

How will my morning sickness affect my baby?

Morning sickness can be dangerous for both you and baby if you’re losing more than 10 percent of your baseline weight or if you’re unable to keep down even sips of water.

3 tips for Entrepreneurs

Success as an entrepreneur requires many skills, including the ability to find balance in your personal as well as your professional life. Here are three tips I try to live by:
1. Have Courage
Have the courage to say no to opportunities that may stretch your company too far. Have
the courage to launch your own product- or service-based business. Have the courage
to hustle when things are tough. Push through the fear as it can be immensely gratifying to be your own boss and to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

2. Get on the same page as your spouse
I could not successfully run Psi Bands without the support of my husband. If you find that your spouse is not behind you, start talking and find some compromises. If you are at odds, you will be unable to fully move your business forward.

3. Be in the moment
Find ways to separate the time spent with your family and working on the business,
otherwise everyone suffers. Set some boundaries that work for you. You, your family
and your business will benefit if you are able to focus.

TIPS FOR TRAVEL WITH PETS

If you are planning a family trip that includes a furry family member, your pet, follow these tips. Your dog can’t repeatedly ask, “are we there yet?” but he can complain in messier ways.

1. Container. Pets should travel in a well-ventilated crate or carrier, secured in the car so it won’t slide around at a quick stop. The crate should be large enough for the animal to stand, sit, lie down and turn around.

2. Test drive. Take some test runs to get your pet acclimated to car rides. Start with a series of short drives and gradually lengthen the time spent in the car.

3. Feeding. Don’t feed a pet in a moving vehicle. Feed her a light meal three or four hours before you leave.

4. Hydrate. When it comes to water, bring your own, preferably tap water from home stored in plastic jugs. Drinking water from an area he’s not used to could result in tummy upset for your pet.

5. Packing.  Bring everything your pet needs for the trip, including food, bowl, leash, a waste scoop, litter box, plastic bags, grooming supplies, medication and a favorite toy. If you’re traveling across state lines, bring along your pet’s rabies vaccination record. Some states require this proof at interstate crossings.

6. Identify. Before you leave, consider having your pet microchipped for identification. Make a temporary travel tag made with your cell phone number, destination phone number and any other relevant contact information.

CANCER/WELLNESS CORNER

The Path of Least Regret

When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, there wasn’t even a thought about whether I’d lose my breasts. I figured the surgeon would simply go in, remove the tumor, close me back up and that would be the end of it. Boy, was I naive. When they discovered my left breast was full of disease, a mastectomy was certain. Then the doctors asked whether I wanted to keep the other breast, the healthy one. What was I going to do? How would I ever make this choice? I started exploring cancer websites and talking with some of my old colleagues in the news business (I was a news anchor/reporter for 17 years) who were in contact with some of the leading experts in breast cancer research, from Stanford to Johns Hopkins. Every conversation left me feeling confused about what I should do. My own team of doctors remained cautious about weighing in, as they knew it was a personal decision only I could make. I felt frustrated when my own husband wouldn’t offer an opinion, “Marilyn, this has to come from you and I will be totally supportive of whatever you decide.” Finally, I turned to a friend who works with breast cancer patients. I asked her how other women come to these resolutions. Her response was life changing, “Marilyn, follow the path of least regret.” I was inspired. Her advice was profound, yet uncomplicated. I repeated it over and over, “Follow the path of least regret.”
When I applied it to my own personal situation… 40 years old, with two young kids… it became clear, for me, that I should undergo a bilateral mastectomy. Here’s what’s stunning about those words: For another 40-year old mother of two, the path of least regret might lead her to a less invasive approach. She might choose to keep her breasts. It’s a personal decision that should not be judged. No praise, no blame. It’s an intimate process. For me… it’s a navigational tool I continue to use in all areas of my life, which is helping me to be more honest with myself about what’s truly important. Still, I don’t forget the importance of empowering myself with knowledge and staying on top of the latest research. You can too… as there are so many invaluable resources available online. Here’s a couple to consider: One is for the National Cancer Institute. The other is Mayo Clinic, which will connect you with one of the most comprehensive sites linked to an actual cancer center. Check in next month for more of my story and helpful tips as you continue on your own healing journey.

PREGNANCY CORNER

Am I Pregnant? Knowing the First Signs of Pregnancy

Most women know that the absence of menstruation is a key sign of pregnancy, but it’s important to be aware of other indicators. Knowing you are pregnant sooner affords you an early start on a healthy regimen. That’s better for you and your baby. Signs of pregnancy include:

* Absence of menstruation
* Morning sickness (nausea and/or vomiting any time of day)
* Frequent urination
* Tender, swollen breasts
* Darkening of the areola (area around the nipple) and raised glands around the nipple
* Blue and pink lines under breasts and on abdomen
* Food cravings
There may be signs on the above list that make you wonder if you might be pregnant. When you’re waiting to know if you’re pregnant, one day of not knowing can feel like a lifetime. If you think you might be pregnant, try the FIRST RESPONSE® Early Result Pregnancy Test, which detects the pregnancy hormone six days before your missed period. Schedule an appointment with your doctor to confirm the results, and always check with your physician regarding any issues concerning your health. Knowing sooner is important.

Eating for Two?

PBatWork
Did you know there are 10 “super foods” you should seek out if you are eating for two? According to The Bump, “These powerful eats pack plenty of nutrients to keep mom-to-be and baby healthy through pregnancy — and beyond.” Check out the full story here, and if you are already enjoying these foods, you can feel good about it!

1. Eggs
2. Sweet Potatoes
3. Nuts
4. Beans and Lentils
5. Lean Meat
6. Orange Juice
7. Yogurt
8. Oatmeal
9. Leafy Greens
10. Salmon

WINTER ROADTRIP TIPS

Family road trips in winter require extra cautions. Follow these tips to ensure yours is a fun family travel adventure.

1. Learn what a winter weather advisory means–and heed the warning. Blizzard warnings are the worst, with snow and strong winds: you can get blinding snow, deep drifts, and a life-threatening wind chill. Winter storm warnings indicate a storm bringing four or more inches of snow/sleet in 12 hours; six or more inches in 24 hours. Winter storm watches are issued 12-36 hours in advance of major storms. Winter weather advisories are for conditions that may be hazardous, but should not become life threatening when using caution.

2. Let someone know your timetable and travel route. This is especially important if you are traveling in areas with little traffic.

3. Be prepared.  Pack a shovel, broom, ice scraper, jumper cables, blankets, flashlight, warning devices (flares), sand or kitty litter, high-calorie non-perishable food, and a spare, charged battery for your cell phone.

4. Keep your gas tank and wiper fluid reservoir full.

5. If you get stuck in the snow, stay in your car. It’s your best shelter.

CANCER/WELLNESS CORNER

Introducing “Marilyn the Thriver”

My name is Marilyn Byrne, and I can say with great pride and profound gratitude that I am a cancer survivor! No, scratch that. I am a cancer THRIVER! For the last 14 months I have put my body through hell in a fierce battle against stage II breast cancer. I have endured the rigors of treatment, accepted my own mortality and have come out on the other side, stronger and healthier than before.
I was diagnosed after finding a lump in my left breast. Talk about shock. I had just turned 40 and my kids were only seven and four. I knew in an instant the course of my life was changing and I was terrified. All the tests showed that my cancer had to be dealt with aggressively – that meant surgery, chemo and radiation. After numerous discussions with my doctors and long, arduous debates in my own head, I elected to undergo a bilateral mastectomy.
Surgery was a success. They did find cancerous lymph nodes, so Chemo was coming for sure. The treatments began six weeks after my surgery and lasted a grueling six months. My oncologist had me on five different anti-nausea medications – which helped keep my dinners down, but certainly didn’t stop the queasiness that would last a week after treatment. A friend of mine sent me some Psi Bands with the hope that I would find some relief. At this point I was ready for something that could help me get through the next infusion. I was starting to feel overwhelmed by the misery of chemotherapy. I was even beginning to have what’s called anticipatory nausea, which is a real, physiological response to the chemo drugs. Any time I would even think about driving to the Oncology Center, I would begin to feel sick.

So, I put the Psi Bands on — one on each wrist. Red and pink ones. I was heading into my fourth week of chemo and dreading it. To my relief, they worked! I didn’t have the same level of discomfort that I had experienced in the weeks before and I didn’t feel as sick to my stomach. I knew there was something powerful about those bands…and I’m only sorry I wasn’t wearing them from the beginning.
I am now six months post chemo and I feel good. My hair is growing in and my energy is coming back. If you or a loved one are going through treatment now, hang tough. You too will get through it, and begin to feel like your old self again, only a better, stronger version of yourself.
Be sure to check this space next month where I will share more of my story, offer support, and provide some helpful resources as you continue on your healing journey.

PREGNANCY CORNER
Pre-Pregnancy Tips from

Are you trying to conceive? An ovulation test can help you identify the two days of your cycle when you’re most likely to get pregnant. Ever wonder how they work?

There are changes in your body right before an egg is released from the ovary (ovulation). Ovulation tests work by detecting one of these changes, specifically the increase of luteinizing hormone (LH) levels in urine. The LH surge, as it is commonly called, precedes ovulation by 24 to 36 hours. Detecting your LH surge with an ovulation test enables you to identify the most fertile time of your cycle – the two days beginning with your surge.

You can maximize your chances of becoming pregnant if you have intercourse within 24 to 36 hours after detecting your LH surge. Timing is one of the most important factors when you’re trying to get pregnant. For more information and support for those trying to conceive (and a $2 off coupon for any First Response product) visit the First Response website.

“Give, Give, Get”

Romy head shot
When we started on this venture we were so excited about the prospect of improving people’s lives by introducing them to a simple product that makes them feel better. What we didn’t realize until we were knee deep in the business was that in the process of building Psi Bands, we were indoctrinated into an unofficial club of incredible entrepreneurs. I have learned so much from these relationships during this entrepreneurial journey, that now, in the words of Angela Jia Kim, founder of Savor the Success, it’s time to “give, give, get.”

I plan to share some of the tips and tricks I have learned along the way here in this newsletter each month. In addition, I invite you to read and subscribe to our new blog Both Sides of the Retail Table. Each week I, along with former Target buyer Vanessa Ting, reveal both sides of the story regarding what an entrepreneur of a product-based company needs to know to land a coveted spot on major retailers’ shelves. Many entrepreneurs just don’t know where to begin when approaching retailers and there are so many lessons to learn along the way. In the spirit of giving back, we simply desire to share the tips we have learned along our own paths.

That’s right, Psi Bands is featured as a ”Pint-Size Pick” in the August 29 issue of People magazine (out on newsstands 8/19). This special issue of People has an extra section all about celebrity “cutest kids” and is expected to be seen by some 45 milion readers. The piece touts the positive aspects of Psi Bands as a Drug-Free, Adjustable, Comfortable, Fashionable, Waterproof and Affordable option for the relief of nausea.

ChicThis month’s mompreneur has a blog we have been admiring for months. If you are planning a baby nursery or making updates to a bigger kids room, you absolutely must subscribe to Nicole Abbott’s blog at Chic & Cheap Nursery.  Nicole’s mission is to empower moms (expectant, new and veterans) to create unique and affordable spaces for their children that reflect their style, by inspiring them with beautiful finds and creative design ideas. While planning for the arrival of her daughter in 2008, Nicole (an interior designer by heart and architect by trade) became frustrated when she realized that her dream nursery would remain a dream because everything seemed to be soooo expensive. But a resourceful Nicole did not give up hope. And she set out to create a dream nursery on a small budget and discovered a wonderful world of DIYs, independent shops and incredibly creative ideas from real moms! In our opinion, her ideas are so clever, you can find ideas for every room in your house!

Nausea ad nauseum

Last month, we discussed how Mariah Carey lamented how morning sickness adversely affected her voice. Another diva who battled morning sickness while pregnant is Celine Dion. Her 1996 hit single “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” has a whole new meaning.

MOMPRENUER of the month: valerie lecouer and THE FANTASTIC ANTI-PLASTIC BEACH TOUR

As made clear by previous newsletters, we are all about supporting our fellow momprenuers. Valerie Lecouer,anti-plastic founder of Zoë b Organic, is one of those women who has taken the insight she has gained as a mom and applied it to a company that is making a positive impact for us all. Valerie is the inventor of the first ever biodegradable beach toys .  To promote her new line, Valerie is leading a caravan down the West Coast with her husband, their 3 young children (ages 8, 7, and 3), another mom and her 6-year-old, a French nanny, and a 5-pound Yorkie Poo named “Rambo”. Over 3 weeks, they are driving a C-Class RV from Seattle to San Diego.

Their Mission?
1. To educate people about the need for minimizing our environmental impact on our beaches.
2. To promote alternatives to the plastic that’s slowly eating away at our planet.
3. To explore the coast, have fun, and not wear shoes very often.

The Zoë b Organic beach toys are made with bioplastic derived from corn sugar and contain absolutely no BPA, phthalates, or beach toys PVC. Their bioplastic fully biodegrades in 2 to 3 years when buried in soil, immersed in water, home composted, or composted in industrial facilities. Ordinary plastic takes up to 500 years to degrade, and even then it only breaks down into tiny particles that are toxic to wildlife and the environment. Zoë b toys are durable and designed to hold up to playing just like ordinary beach toys. All completely made in the good ole USA.

recycling on the run

There are ways to be eco-aware even when you arecamper away from home.  Sometimes when we travel we tend to throw caution to the wind (“I can eat that. I’m on vacation!” or “Who cares if the kids are still up! We can all sleep in!”) And that’s fine…perhaps even healthy every once in a while. But, just because we are on vacation doesn’t mean we should get lazy about recycling. Check out Celebrate Green where blogger Lynn Cowell offers several tips for easy ways to stay green while traveling.

By the way, we have added many new retailers in recent months, so be sure to check out where to BUY on our website to find a location convenient to you!

A Non-Invasive Cure for Morning Sickness
(June 30, 2011)
Oh, terrible morning (or all-day) sickness! It feels so awful. Why won’t your doctor give you something to help? One word: thalidomide. Ever since, only the ladies with the all-day, nine-month morning sickness get any relief. If you have your garden variety first-trimester sickness, girl, you’re on your own.

Or maybe not. Believe it or not, those acupressure bands (often sold for sea sickness) really do work, on a significant number of people. The bands have nodules on them that bear down on points on your wrist. No worries about hurting the baby, and most users find that their nausea is significantly reduced (worked for me when I was pregnant!).

But traditional acupressure bands are pretty darned ugly: knit bands that look like sweat socks, or like some type of hospital bandage that will make people ask you why you’re wearing them. Psi Bands, in contrast, look like watch bands. No one will notice. No one will ask you about them. You needn’t tell them that the reason you are ill is that every single thing in the world has a smell, and it’s all bad.

Nausea ad nauseum

In May 1817, 194 years ago this month, Mary Shelly completed the writing of her Gothic horror masterpiece, Frankenstein. Shelly’s last book? A travelogue, which is interesting because she was known to suffer from motion sickness on boats and in carriages.

Psi Bands were the star product in a recent edition of the San Francisco Chronicle’s Travel Section. Says the reviewer, “My wife…won’t leave shore without them…They avoid the drowsiness of normal Dramamine and the dry-mouth sensation of the “less drowsy” version. Plus, unlike some competing models, they’re waterproof.

mom-owned: Ingrid and isabel

We love to highlight mom-invented products, and, if you are pregnant, the Ingrid and Isabel line is a must! While pregnant with her first child, Ingrid quickly discovered that dressing for two was not easy or fashionable. She found herself using old tube tops in an attempt to disguise her waistband and to hold up pants that didn’t fit properly.  After a year of careful engineering, Ingrid transformed her at-home remedy into the essential maternity accessory, the Bellaband. In 2003, she took her Bellaband concept and her passion for helping women enjoy their pregnancies a step further and founded the San Francisco based company, Ingrid & Isabel. The line currently offers a vast array of stylish maternity wear for women, including The Essentials – a line of gorgeous camis, ruched tanks and tees, comfortable skirts and pants.

As we head into summer, we highly recommend you check out Ingrid & Isabel’s newly launched chic line of 8 mix and match swim separates, lightweight tees, drapes tops and dresses. For more information on Ingrid & Isabel and the collections they offer, please visit www.ingridandisabel.com.

Don’t be green with nausea. “go green” instead!

As we celebrate Earth Day this month,
it reminds us all that the things we purchase these days need to be ecologically sound, affordable, functional, and, of course, fashionable. That’s why we are proud that Psi Bands enable nausea sufferers to “go green” without being green with nausea. Here’s how Psi Bands are environmentally conscious:

  • We do not use PVC or BPA in any of our products or packaging.
  • Psi Bands themselves are reusable.
  • Our packaging serves as a reusable travel case.
  • And, of course, our packaging is the color green.
  •

Psi Bands featured on the Rachael Ray Show!

RR ShowPsi Bands made its major network television debut last week on The Rachael Ray Show. In a “Human Lab” segment on morning sickness, Psi Bands was highlighted as a remedy that one pregnant viewer tested out. We are thrilled that Psi Bands

has now been exposed to Rachael Ray’s 3 million viewers. We especially appreciated when Rachael’s on-air guest expert OB/Gyn (and author of Expecting 411) Dr. Michelle Hakakha confirmed that acupressure is a time tested (thousands of years old) method for relieving nausea. And then, to wrap it up, Rachael reminded the audience that Psi Bands are an Every Day with Rachael Ray magazine “Reader Rave,” announcing that we “know somebody who… not only loved Psi Bands but, wrote in and raved about it!”rr

testify! from our Find us on Facebook wall…

I have MAJOR motion sickness. I can’t even be a passenger in a car. If I’m going somewhere, I have to be the driver. I found out that my work wanted to send me to Shanghai, China (I’m from the midwest). I’ve never flown outside of the states, but that was the LEAST of my worries. I was terrified of the sickness I’d experience on a 23 hour flight! I ordered my Psi Bands put them on immediately because a co-worker (who didn’t know how bad my motion sickness was) offered to drive. I was shocked that the 2 hour ride to the airport was comfortable and uneventful. Then when I had to board the parking shuttle to the airport, I was even more nervous. Sitting sideways in a bus filled with 30+ people?! Zero nausea! And even better the flight from the midwest to Japan and then Japan to Shanghai was spent eating, sleeping and reading in complete comfort! Thank you Psi Bands!!!

    Nausea ad nauseum

Happy 89th birthday (Feb. 27), Liz Taylor. Several decades ago, a British journalist was interviewing her in the back of a Cadillac when he began to experience nausea due to the moving car. Deciding he had to keep his eyes straight ahead, he apologized by telling her, “If I look at you, I shall feel sick.”
